certain characters break up show_whitespaces

Describe the bug / provide steps to reproduce it

in settings.json, always show whitespaces "show_whitespaces": "all" in any file, insert a &nbsp (u+00A0) every space in the same line and after that char won't have the little dot indicating a whitespace and some non-space chars will have it

It seems that the whitespace-dots positions are reset to the beginning of the line. Wheh i put O&nbsp_ (_ is a space) the dot is inside the O

Zed: v0.161.2 (Zed) OS: Linux Wayland fedora 41 Memory: 7.5 GiB Architecture: x86_64 GPU: Intel(R) Xe Graphics (TGL GT2) || Intel open-source Mesa driver || Mesa 24.2.6

Here is OOOOO&nbsp and 2 spaces, a dash, 1 space in the first 2 O and in the 4 one, there is a dot

If applicable, attach your Zed.log file to this issue.

Didn't find anything relevant in the logs.
