Please include the information from zed: copy system specs to clipboard (in the command palette, ctrl+shift+p) in the issue. What GPU driver and desktop environment you are using are very relevant pieces of information for window handling and rendering related issues.

On a side note, I've had Zed freeze frequently when resizing floating windows (arch, x11, nvidia), but couldn't replicate consistently.

Also are you using wayland or Xorg? and whats you're desktop environment? It might help if you check the logs for your DE too.

On a side note, I've had Zed freeze frequently when resizing floating windows (arch, x11, nvidia), but couldn't replicate consistently.

I have this problem too, and the freeze sometimes multiple zed instance windows freeze together

Still very much an issue with nvidia 560 series drivers on a multi-gpu system.

Wanted to give this a bump, I have been attempting to give Zed a shot for a few weeks because I want to move away from Vscode. Unfortunately this has kept me from giving it a fair chance.

  • Multi monitor system
  • Multi gpu system (4090s)
  • Using latest drivers for nvidia
  • Wayland session
