Is choco's branch still the only way to make fullscreen Safari work with Shifty, after two years?

There used to be an option in SafariStand settings to hide the horizontal tab bar. It stopped working with a new version of Safari. Then the option was pulled out...

Same problem here... It started soon after upgrading to 8.0.208 from 8.0.202. I can't open even half the amount of tabs I used be able to open before, without Safari...

It also causes Yosemite to freeze-crash once everyday.
