If I switch from CPU to GPU rendering (16-Bit) I can see a beautiful image. CPU 3D Volume rendering is also black on 10.15.3. GPU works great.
Additional note on this: Once Miele-LXIV 8.0.54 also crashed completely, on Mavericks 10.9.5 with Inhel HD4000.
Also not working on Linux for me.
1. did you test with LibreOffice? 2. Can you share the script how you generate the XLS?
I think this is a problem with specific binary formats of the office versions
