regression: authentication stopped working in uv 0.1.36

I'm sorry this took so long to fix. In 0.6.6, this can be solved by setting `authenticate = "always"` for your [`[index]`](https://docs.astral.sh/uv/configuration/indexes/#defining-an-index). There's not an equivalent CLI option though.

Unfortunately I'm not sure what's going on. I'm chatting with maintainers of the upstream dependency (`cargo-dist`) which creates the installer for us. Does it persist if you delete and reinstall?

I'm not sure — these recommendations are from an external dependency which creates these installers for us. I'll check in there.

venv: --copies?

Is this still an issue because we're not copying the interpreter? Should we respect `--link-mode` for the interpreter too?
