Need a Help section
Motivation
Hello! I'm having some issues with Atom and I so I followed the Help links to a Community Discussion, https://github.com/atom/atom/discussions, which goes to a 404. (A very cute and cool 404, but a 404 nonetheless)
There was another link, https://discuss.atom.io/ , but it appears to be having some SSL issues.
I'm here because I have some settings issues I can't figure out. I'm assuming User Error and not a bug.
It started a few months ago, after an update I'm sure. For YEARS, I got this lovely syntax highlighting on CSS as soon as I'd switch from Plain Text to CSS. Now, that doesn't happen. I still get the colored syntax when opening old CSS files I made previously, but can't get it to turn on now for new files. Sometimes if I Save the files as a .css, close it Atom, and re-open, then I'll get Syntax highlighting - but that's not right. Right? Exhibit A: https://thehelpfulmarketer.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-14-082853.jpg
Second issue, often my files will make it look like all of the text is highlighted/selected, when in reality NONE of it is selected, and so when I try to select text to copy/cut, I can't tell WHAT is ACTUALLY selected. See Exhibit B: https://thehelpfulmarketer.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-14-082904.jpg Perhaps it's once it's selected and copied, it stays looking Selected until it's closed and re-opened?
I want to have syntax highlighting happen automatically when switching to CSS.
Tried switching Themes. Currently using One Dark for UI and Syntax. I think that's what I've always used that worked fine for years. All Packages are up to date. Went through all Core, Editor, etc Settings and nothing seems to fit either issue.
Additional context
Hey again, I still really need some help but there's still no Community Discussion, https://github.com/atom/atom/discussions or at https://discuss.atom.io/ Do you know about these pages not working? Will there be a discussion board again at some point? Where should I go for help?
Hi @A-Buzon, You won't be able to find the answer for this section. Because, Atom stopped development and will archived on December this year. You can try to post question to Atom community, repo forked and maintained by the community. Or, I think you should try to use other editor
OH man!! I had no idea! Well, that makes sense why none of the links work anymore and no one seemed to care. Thank you SO MUCH for letting me know @tapsu01 ! I just tried disabling all my Packages and it's back to normal, so it's def one of the Packages.
@tapsu01 do you have an editor you recommend? Will you continue to use the community fork?
Hi @A-Buzon, I haven't used Atom in a long time, because, unstable and unsupported packages I use Visual Studio Code and NeoVim for work every day. You can try one of them.
