A release file kind of thing would make checks for recent Taupage images are used as base AMIs easier. Actually it would enable that when ssh'ed into an AMI instance. Current work around is to use senza patch command.

What do you mean with "release file"?

One could find a file in a defined location that could hold release information. Those information could be provided as well using other mechanisms e.g. ec2 instance tags.
