Youtube Music Cast Support

Currently since there is no true casting support, i can't seem to get the youtube music app on my phone to work with this app. I was able to add youtube casting via the link with tv code feature, however there doesn't appear to be a way to do this with youtube music. Youtube music is a great way to listen to music only.I would really appriciate the ability to cast youtube music from my phone to smarttubenext. Currently i can cast youtube music to my fire tv via the native youtube app. I wanted to try casting to smarttubenext, primary because of the no ads feature, and additional features smarttubenext has. Alas, i am not able to cast via the tv code on youtube music, so therefore i cannot seem to find a way to do this. Please add support for youtube music, and possibly consider adding full cast support. This would be great if full casting ever gets supported. Thanks again

I'm not sure if adding casting is possible with YT Music, since the app only has the mDNS discovery method. If this method was possible to add I think it would have already been added since it makes casting from the regular YT app easier too.

I believe Vanced cuts out the ads from YT Music too(?). You can then use Bluetooth or the headphone jack to stream the music to your speaker setup. Another option is to cast your phone screen to the FireTV, with FireTV's casting feature.

I'm currently using vanced, and vanced music on my rooted phone. It Works great! The only issue is with casting. while it does work, due to how casting works, the ads are not removed. I've confirmed this to be case, and vanced devs can't do anything about it. I could potentially use bluetooth, but with bluetooth comes limited range, and I like to move around the house while listening to music from my speakers and my phone in my pocket. It's primarly why i use casting.

However maybe i've been looking at this wrong. I would love to use your app for my music "solution", but i need a way to control it from my phone. My idea is as follows, just hear me out.

1st. Create a way to control smarttubenext via a web browser (http), or via a phone app. 2. I know there is a music section already in your app. Could this be improved on? SOme suggestions would be, to add a easy way to rate a song (thumbs up, thumbs down), and add quick picks. Quick picks is where you select a song and it plays that and similar songs to your taste.

I'm a user like yourself, so I can't make any additions. I'm just thinking of the fastest solution to your problem.

Yes you're right about using Vanced, if you cast to the official app, the official app will not skip ads. Instead of casting Vanced to the official app, cast your phone screen to FireTV.

On the FireTV remote, long press home button and use the mirroring option. This will let you mirror or cast your phone screen and audio to the FireTV so that you can control Vanced on your phone and hear the music through your TV sound system.

Granted this is not as nice as casting to SmartTubeNext, but it may give you most of the functionality you are looking for.

Oh, whoops. Sorry, I thought you were one of the developers. Sorry... ANyway, I'm currently looking into yet another method, via the ad blocker blokada, or via possibly adaway. I;m currently trying it out. As you mentioned, the mirroring option via fire tv, I could try that, but i think the fire tv just uses miracast, which isn't that great of range... I'm currently thinking one of 4 options.

1. Just use casting and live with the ads.
2. 2, screen casting my entire device using yt vanced music to a chromecast , and since that works over wifi, it should be better than the fire tv;s mirroring.
3. Use smarttubenext with the fire tv and hope there will be a way of remote controlling it from another device.
4. Try an ad blocker on the fire tv, and hopefully i can still cast.

I'll post back with my findings about the ad blocker

Right FireTV's Miracast uses WiFi Direct, so range may not be good enough for you. I've heard blocking YouTube ads with ad blockers is pretty hard, but I've never tried it myself.

I know this is quite an old issue and the limitations are hard to work around. I think there could be a solution but would involve probably both the revanced team and Smarttube next developers to work together. I mean basically all of these problems occur from not controlling one of the applications. But if you use Youtube Music revanced with Smarttubenext you could basically create your own cast if I'm correct. You could say this is a niche but I think a lot of people who use or know revanced also are familiar with SmartTubeNext. In the best case smarttubenext will just get a custom UI for youtube music and you will be able to cast to it via the revanced app.

That's a great idea! Although I'm not sure if it can be accomplished using Chromecast protocol. And even if it can be achieved it would require a lot of work and cooperation on both ends.
