Can confirm this is also happening on my end as well, Amazon Fire Stick using the latest stable build. Youtube might have changed their APIs or something?

This is nice and all but there's not a way to do this outside of rewriting and recompiling the code to revise this as far as I'm aware. We'll have to wait for @yuliskov or another developer to come and fix this.
My kingdom for Google to leave shit well enough the hell alone for at least a month.

That is an internal problem and gotta be fixed by adding one parameter inside couple .java classes. Overall, developers need to fix it and release new version, otherwise the app won't play the videos.
No one has the rights to make the changes and push it? If this is stopping 100% of users from using the app, can someone branch it with the fix until it can get merged?
If I could fix it I would. But I only do scripting and assembly. If something needs a build environment I turn around and walk the other way. I only use git for reporting bugs. I'm not actually comfortable with how it all works.

Currently on Beta version 11.22, still no luck playing videos. Hasn't worked properly for about a week now for me.

Thanks for the reply. I've been rebooting before each time I try to launch it again the past week, still no luck unfortunately. Also tried clearing the cache and reinstalling the apk.

Version 11.22 kind of works but is very slow, the sections take like a minute or 2 to load, same for the videos to start playing. Looking forward to version 11.23 ;-)
For me it's working again (on Android 5.1.1). Before I had a black screen when playing the video and I couldn't go back when pressing the back button. Thank you!

Emmm, sorry, forget it. It worked one day later.
Solved the issue on my end. Turned off IPv6 and everything started working again flawlessly. My bad, not sure how that happened!

How? In your router? I don't see any IPv6 settings
This is still a recurring issue. It's sporadic and often times can be fixed by rebooting, but not always on the first attempt. Most of the times, 2-3 hours after the last reboot, videos stop loading (black screen with no loading indicator) and also menus don't udpate anymore. I think #837 is the same issue and it looks like it's all IPv6 related.

I can confirm this. After having plenty of problems with official Youtube Android TV app, I decided to install the latest STN release build and I had only black display except audio was working during playback. Rebooting TV resolved the problem temporarily. I have Philips Android TV with Oreo 8 which might be the root cause.
