My end just randomly started to work properly without a VPN after posting the above screen shot.

I'd update pretty fast even though that might be a clean version.

Great observation, I missed the version the OP has.

I'll go ahead and piggy back this thread since I don't see much information on this other than a reddit thread from yesterday.

Ever since 30.56 I basically cannot play anything higher than 1080p 60fps because of what seems to be buffering issues, but it's very funky.

Affected versions 30.56 30.64

Device Type Smart TV/Box

Affected Android Onn 4K Streaming Box running Android 14

Steps to reproduce the bug Play 4K60FPS video (Usually from Hardware Unboxed or Gamers Nexus) -> all loads and buffers normally -> within 1-5 minutes of playback, seek bar goes to very beginning of video -> black screen appears > buffering circle appears -> when buffering is complete, video resumes normally -> repeats however many times google feels like cursing me.

HOWEVER, there have been a few occasions where I have been asked to "Sign in to confirm you are not a bot" when normally the video would just play after buffering, and after a few seconds the app decides to swap to another video and says the same thing until I back out entirely, basically same behavior the app does when not signed in at all. Makes me wonder if for some reason the app is not detecting me as signed in as often as it should be and therefore either rate limiting or outright trying to block me for bot activity.

Very rarely does it ever freeze frame on a video and buffers there, maybe 1 in every 20 times it happens? Youtube for TV app of course works totally fine but using that to watch even one video was painful enough to cause generational trauma.

Same issue for the last few days on a Nvidia shield tv also. My App is up-to-date I have 5gbps fiber connexion, and 1gbps wired connexion for the Shield.

Same issue on Nvidia Shield Pro. It's absolutely brutal.

Same for me in shield.

I also have this issue and it’s very much dependent on bitrate. It’s like there’s a throttle on the apps bandwidth. Video buffer setting to medium.

But also streams will buffer that have much lower bitrate and this is sometimes unrecoverable with a permanent loading circle.

Here’s the highest bitrate video I can find at 173mbps

Maybe due to a shield tv update? On Thu, Dec 18, 2025 at 6:35 PM Submitten1 @.***> wrote:
