  • [x] This issue contains only one bug.

Affected version

27.99

Device Type

Smart TV/Box

Affected Android

SHIELD Android TV SW Version 9.2.1(33.2.0.326)

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Start playback of video
  2. Either pause video, or let it play, and exit app using • button on Shield controller.
  3. Wait a second, and audio keeps playing.

Actual behavior

Audio plays, but no visible audio playback menu allowing you to pause or stop. Fully closing app from "Recent items" list doesn't stop playback, causing you to have to reboot or go back in and start a new video and then stop it.

Additional information

Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019

Just a passing thought or two: Though this does seem like a possible bug or platform-related glitch, "Background playback" happens to be a feature that I use on my Firestick. Perhaps, as a workaround, you could try enabling or changing Settings->General->Background playback TO something different? Maybe, assigning BACK or HOME keys to Background play might stop this from happening randomly? Alternatively, you should be able to change or revoke ST's background permissions from the Shield's perm manager(Settings -> Apps - SmartTube -> Permissions -> X... I've never had a Shield, but I have read that they can sometimes be a bit flaky with other non-gaming app permissions.🤷‍♂️

I've never had a Shield too, and I only had this issue while playing with the "play video/audio" in background options in ST. since I deavtivated them all I never had this issue again. You might need to fiddle around. Also, on my firestick 4k I deavtivated the PIP (picture in picture?) for the ST app just to be sure. Maybe the Shield has some similar options.
