[BUG]: After playing the first video(A), playing any other video(B) will play the first video(A) instead.
Checklist
- [x] I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - which I could contribute my information to.
- [x] I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
- [x] I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the bug report will be dismissed otherwise.
- [x] This issue contains only one bug.
Affected version
27.65 BETA and 27.66 BETA
Device Type
Smart TV/Box
Affected Android
Android TV 10
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Open App.
- Play a video (A).
- Play any other video (B). Video (A) will play instead.
- Force kill app.
- Reopen app.
- Play a video (C).
- Play any other video (D). Video (C) will play instead.
Actual behavior
The first video played after opening the app is the only video that will play every time you attempt to play a video.
The app needs to be manually killed through the Android Settings > Apps panel for it to be able to play a new video.
Additional information
Bug appears on both 27.65 BETA and 27.66 BETA Bug DOES NOT appear on a different Android TV 10 machine that is still running 27.63 BETA.
It appears that the "Play Video" action is adding the video to a queue, and somewhere between these versions a change was made that tries to play the first video in the queue, instead of the currently selected video.
I'm suffering the same. I found out that the default action on tap is not to play the video, but add it to the queue instead, and that's why the 1st selected video always plays. Roamed thru the app settings but it seems there's nothing about a default action
It was a feature, not a bug :-) Settings -> UI -> Card Preview to OFF/Disabled to go back to previous behavior

I already have that feature off.
Bug still exists in 27.67

Check your play queue and delete it so you start from scratch

No idea how to do that. I don't use the queue feature at all.
I see no mention of "Queue" in any of the SmartTube settings. Nor do I see anything about "Queue" on the YouTube site on my PC.

While playing a video, navigate down and the queue will appear below as a playlist, or via an icon (3 stacked lines)

I had to enable that UI feature, since I don't use the play queue, and actively want to not use it[1]. There is no way to clear the queue with this, it simply shows the queue if it exists.
I have multiple TVs with SmartTube BETA installed, and I left one on the older 27.63 BETA which does not have this problem.
When playing Video(A), backing out(not completely watching it), then playing Video (B):
- 27.63
- Video (A) and Video (B) are shown in the queue, with Video (B) playing.
- 27.67
- Video (A) and Video (B) are shown in the queue, with Video (A) playing.
After whatever video is playing finishes, playback stops. It does not "return" to finish earlier videos in the queue. It does not "continue" and play the next video in the queue.
The queue is also a local object, it is not shared between machines.
Note: I'm not sure why we even need a queue. I know I certainly don't for my use-case. I watch a video, and when it's done, I go back and choose another video. I go out of my way to disable anything playing more videos unless it is a playlist, which would already be a list of things to play and make a queue irrelevant.
[1] There is a difference between "not wanting to do", and "wanting to not do".
I do use the queue feature but still find this change to be breaking my experience.
The default action for a single tap on a video should be to play the video, not queue it, and if that is the new default behavior you should be able to change it.

Seems fixed as of 27.76 I'll test it more tomorrow to make sure it stayed fixed in the newer versions released since then, then close.
@yuliskov You've been busy. =)
I've had this happen a few times. I also have seen where I opened comments/description on a video, closed it, started playing a new video, open comments/discussion and the same ones are there. Somewhere there's a buffer or cache that isn't always cleared.
