Working on Shield TV 26.95 stable

nfilipek avatar Mar 25 '25 08:03 nfilipek

I have both the 26.95 stable and 26.95 beta installed and intermittently, neither will play anything. Just a dark screen which pulses in different levels of darkness until it returns to the home page. No errors are shown. When restarted, it might play fine but it seems to be not working far more than working.

I am using a Vontar R3 - Rockchip RK3528 Android 13.

Still error with 26.95 Stable on X96 MAX ULTRA, Android 11

nightscout-ricsi avatar Mar 25 '25 21:03 nightscout-ricsi

This morning, after updating to version 26.95s, it ran without any problems. This evening the error is back. Picture remains permanently black. I have reverted to version 26.11s for the time being. The 403 message also appears briefly, but then the video runs.

I am having the very same issue with both the latest stable and beta versions on my Google Android TV dongle, and I wanted to share my findings with everyone.

I have a YouTube Premium Family plan on my account, and I'm using my original account (brand account? The one with username, not the one tied to the email) which is logged in SmartTube Stable, and I'm getting the 403 error every time: there's the infinite loading wheel, but the video data gets loaded (likes etc, and the video gets into your history). On the Beta it showed the same issues, still logged in with my account.

Two of my friends have had no issues with the error after the update, both have their accounts logged in, and both of them DO NOT have Premium.

So I tried deleting all data from the Beta version, and with no account logged in, videos play immediately and fine.

Hope thi helps somehow.

Thanks LuPoNe81 Same here. Got error 403 all the time, didn't work at all. Deleted account and all data from smarttube, now works fine.

The stable version 26.95 works on 2 devices (Samsung TV and Freebox Player) but fails today (error 403) on TCL C825 while it worked yesterday with this same version!

Silderimh avatar Mar 26 '25 08:03 Silderimh

26.95s same error, infinite loop on fire stick 4k unfortunately.

Thank you for all the effort you put in!

mareel161 avatar Mar 26 '25 11:03 mareel161

it seems the error or infinite loop always happens on the first video played when opening the app.

skypeias avatar Mar 26 '25 11:03 skypeias

This is back again for me with a vengeance this morning - infinite 403/applying the fix loop.

edit: Wiping all data, and restoring from a backup got me going again. Still on 26.95

A Little update on my side, I just went in the stable version a few minutes ago, and videos were loading fine and sincerely I have no clue.

LuPoNe81 avatar Mar 26 '25 12:03 LuPoNe81

The error returned this morning. At first it was looping several times before finally playing a video and now it's just looping over and over. I'm on version 26.95. Onn 4K box. Android TV 12.

bmh67wa avatar Mar 26 '25 16:03 bmh67wa

My error loops for a while and then starts playing the video. I'm on Chromecast.

shahribms avatar Mar 26 '25 17:03 shahribms

Yeah still getting the error on Firestick on both the Beta and non Beta versions.

Nethanswarm avatar Mar 26 '25 17:03 Nethanswarm

Further update: it stopped working. I'm in Italy (GMT +1) and till this really afternoon it worked, now that is evening it's error 403: is they're any coincidence?

LuPoNe81 avatar Mar 26 '25 19:03 LuPoNe81

26.96 fixed it for me. 👍🏻

bmh67wa avatar Mar 26 '25 21:03 bmh67wa

Yeah it seems fixed, thanks to the developer.

Nethanswarm avatar Mar 26 '25 21:03 Nethanswarm

Unfortunately still 403 cycling ( UK, GMT, PiHole ) - how can we help to get to the root cause of this?

NesporBellisRM avatar Mar 26 '25 23:03 NesporBellisRM

26.96 now works without any problems. Thanks for the update.
