[Bug] Unknown error - video fails to play

Open maruudn opened this issue 1 year ago • 0 comments

Sometimes a video will simply fail to play, with no apparent reason. I get a slightly different error message depending on which network stack is enabled. With "Cronet", it gives me an exception. With "Default" or "OkHttp", it says it is unable to connect. See the attached photos. cronet default I don't know if I can see the full error message somewhere, pop-up only shows an ellipsis since it is too long. Let me know if there's a log saved to the device somewhere and I can retrieve it (I couldn't find any inside the app's directory on the device). Here are some videos it happens to:

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noquF3RvS_8
  • https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Bt0QRXYzlNM
  • https://www.youtube.com/shorts/dMObcjEI50w

All different videos from different channels, with no obvious explanation as to why they fail Other videos from the same channel will work, so it is seemingly random. It happens maybe once every 5-7 videos, including shorts.

I am using app version 21.22 (beta) on a Chromecast 4K with Google TV running Android TV OS version 12.
