Same problem after update

Same here, plus video breaking up a lot

I have the same error and videos pausing. My buffer settings are set to high so it's not that. Also, this issue seems to occur less when the debug information is showing.

Running this on a FireTV stick 4k.

Can confirm! There is a memory leak in 4k/60fps playback on latest Firestick 4k max. It is very visible when watching with firestick debug menu, it consumes few MB per second until eventually the app crashes and memory clears. No issues in lower than 4k playback. The issue has appeared in the latest update, maybe the one before the latest.

That also happens to me, I have a Firestick 4k max. Videos start to break and Firestick becomes unresponsive for a few seconds.

Same on NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro

Same here. Running on Firestick 4k. Happens every time I select 4k resolution, but anything lower is fine. It's been like this since at least 3~ months ago?

Happening more and more lately. Any acknowledgement from the dev?

I have the same issue... Minix u9h with Slimboxtv 9.11.1 firmware. Setting buffer from low to high forces app to crash. Viewing 4k or other "heavy" videos is almost impossible, the app crashes instantly. Version 19.17 20231001_231249

This hasn't happened to me at all until recently, so I assumed it wasn't version specific.

After some digging, I found that the only setting changed was the buffer from low to high, and changing it back to low fixed the problem on 19.17 (Firestick 4k Max).

I found the issue. The problem was in ROM itself. The Slimboxtv ATV version had some bugs, so I have just installed the Slimboxtv AOSP version and all problems have gone. So, in my case, not the app itself has been problematic.

Happens the same here, a possible temporal fix is setting the buffer to low

Hi, confirming also see-ing OOM’s for a while now. Using firestick 4K. You can check “dropped frames” in “developers overlay”, which shall be on “0”. As suggested as solution to set buffering to “low” seems to solve/mask it for me. (Developer overlay says around 30 seconds buffering still, while playing)

Watching closely with set “medium” sized buffer in “developers overlay” watching 4K@60fps. First a “hick-up” shows, and dropped frames change from zero to certain number. From there you will notice buffer in decreasing 1s/second, until zero. (Like it was stopping to refill buffer, and just consuming buffer until empty. “Medium” or “high” buffers seem to trigger this situation. (About 60 seconds buffering) To trigger it quicker:

  • play 4K@60hz
  • Video buffer on medium or high
  • Press pause to fill buffer (check in developer overlay screen
  • Play and watch first “hick-up”
  • Watch video buffer to countdown to 0
  • Notice OOM error/restart (when buffer went to 0)

Looks like some failure to recover from an error condition triggered by medium/high buffers and playing 4K@60Hz on my firestick 4K.

Confirming to avoid the anoiing issue is to set video buffer to low (30seconds), and play 4K@60fps without the OOM issues (nor hick-up)
