Recommendations are half-full of "trending" content, of no interest, rather than users recommendations.

It seems to appear that this was implemented to mix something like 50/50 between recommendations pulled from YouTube's API for the logged in user, and videos from "trending"; however, it appears done so without the ability to configure/disable it. It has been making me annoyed with SmartTubeNext to the point where I either need to stop using it or fork and patch this out. I have no interest in "trending" content, and currently it appears that at least half of the recommendations are now just trending content (and thus things of no interest to me that are irritating noise). If this was implemented it needs a toggle to turn it off, preferably with an option to turn off the trending category on the dashboard as well.

definitely something is going on, most of my search and recommendation are now shorts. which as i have explicitly disabled shorts in settings.

This is really frustrating and really putting me off using the app. I don't know if it's the same issue either, but most of the categories on my home page seem to be polluted with trending content too, not just the recommended section. Eg. My "Strategy Games" section will become random nonsense after a handful of items, including all sorts of documentaries and music videos.

Yeah, this sounds like part of what I am seeing.

I've noticed that the seemingly random nonsense that I have no interest in, seems to appear all over and is the same items you can find in the trending section.

It has me looking for an alternative solution since its just so much "noise" wasting my time.

Huh, so it isn't just me. 😂 There is a large difference between the recommendations and home screen of SmartTubeNext and the YT client and browser version.

@kariudo where did you say this mixing was introduced? Might have a go at adjusting it/reverting to a previous version.

@rogierg I would say I probably remember noticing it in January? So if you're gonna try old builds I would try back in december?
