Fire TV devices never enter sleep mode while STN is open
I watch YouTube to fall asleep at night, and I have "play only playlist videos continuously" enabled in STN. When my playlist ends, I expect the screensaver on my Fire TV to kick in, then for the device to go into sleep mode after the screensaver has been active for 15 minutes. This is how it works in all other apps when no video is playing. In STN, the video stops as expected using the associated repeat setting, the screensaver kicks in as expected, but when the device should enter sleep mode, the screensaver instead turns off and goes back to STN. After some time, the screensaver turns on again, and after some more time, it goes back to STN again, and this just keeps repeating indefinitely, keeping my TV on and my room bright as day all night. When STN is open, my device never enters sleep mode as expected; when any other app is open, it does.
I don't have "Disable screensaver" enabled in STN, and I've tried disabling screen dimming in STN, but the issue persists. There doesn't appear to be any other remotely relevant settings. I've had this issue using both 2nd-gen and 3rd-gen Fire Sticks. Am I missing something? Or is this a bug?
Just wanted to confirm that this doesn't occur on the Chromecast with Google TV, even though this project is so massive and overrun with bug reports that there's zero chance anyone will ever read this comment throughout the remainder of human civilization.
@blackwind i had exact same problem even on recent versions.
tinkered around the settings a little bit, this seem to work for mine:
- general > screensaver timeout. anything other than never, mine is set to 10m
- general > misc. ensure that "disable screensaver" NOT checked
- video player > screen off timeout. anything other than never

This still works for me on my Nvidia Shield, Thank you
Well I take the above comment back. It doesn't always work properly, Some times the device will go into sleep mode, Not all the time, It's still doing exactly what the OP has stated. Looping through the screensaver and SmartTube, Although with mine I can get CEC to shut the TV off after a period of time, But if SmartTube is opened it turns the TV back on???
I've noticed my Nvidia shield doesn't sleep when I have a video loaded in ST, That includes even while paused, Yet if I am on the home screen or any category without any interaction for a period of time, It will allow my Nvidia Shield to sleep. This maybe a feature to prevent the device sleeping while a video is playing?
Well I am not liking this if it's a feature, The device never sleeps while ST has a video opened or a video is playing, The TV goes to sleep though But not the Device (In my case Nvidia Shield), But when turning on the TV after it's went to sleep a video will still be playing in ST, Not much of a feature, The Device never sleeps while ST has a video opened or playing.
