[Bug] Video Format not Supported only when trying to play YouTube Movies (Free with Ads)
Currently using STN Beta 14.20 on my CCwGTV for the last 6 months. Really enjoying it!
I am having an issue with playing Free with Ads YouTube movies from the YouTube Movies channel. I have not yet found other channels that cause this problem.
I receive the error message "Selected Video Format not supported".
I have attempted: -disabling Sponsor Block -changing video presets settings -changing auto frame rate settings -enabling some developer options such as force legacy codecs -rebooting CCwGTV -clearing STN cache -clearing STN data
No successful fix found. The Free with Ads movies work with sponsor block enabled via YouTube Vanced app. Obviously, casting results in the same error message.
EDITS: clarity, conciseness, spelling, grammar.
Having the Exact same issue on a Nvidia Shield TV (8.2.3) , Also tried the latest Smartube BETA version 14.28, didn't worked
Exact same issue. Tried various codecs and bit rates and none work. Same issue on Google TV built into Sony TV, and various Firesticks.
Check if it's DRM protected. Open the stats for nerds menu then check if there is a "Protected" line. If there is, it will only play with the official YouTube app since STN doesn't support DRM-protected videos.
Yeah, they are protected. Thanks for answering.
Can we get an option to hide these videos entirely? Clutters the Home Screen and feels like an Ad which is against what this app is used for.

This seems the best alternative. To refine: don't hide based on movie category alone, but rather an option "hide DRM protected videos from suggestions".
I am using Android TV Box, I tried SmartTubeStable, SmartTubeBeta, TizenTubeCobalt for Android TV, Youtube Official app for Android TV, to play Free with ads movies from Youtube Movies & TV section, none of them able to play these Movies, all softwares can play other free movies from other peoples channels. So I decide to try Revanced Youtube to install on my Android TV Box and give it a try, and guess what? Revanced Youtube can play Free with ads movies like a charm on same Android TV Box. conclusions: i dont think this is a issue related to my Android TV Box or its hardware, no issue in DRM, no issue in Hardware encoding, no Internet bandwidth issue. There must be some issue in all above softwares other than Revanced Youtube.
