Chromecast with google tv no auto start

Hi! I've got smarttubenext running on chromecast with google tv. When I cast a video to smarttubenext it doesn't automatically start the video like it does with the normal YouTube app. I've got to manually open smarttubenext and then I can play the video. Does anyone know how I can make the smarttubenext automatically open and play the video? Thank you!

I have the same issue on my Philips Android TV 11. To cast video, smarttubenext must by open. Connecting cast Doesn't auto run smarttubenext.

I've got exactly the same issue using smarttubenext on Google Chromecast with Google TV

Just set up STN after Google tripled the monthly YouTube Premium fee. I'm also seeing the same behaviour here. STN needs to be open (not just in the switcher) to be able to cast to it.

I am quite sure this is not a issue with SmartTubeNext but just with configuration of your chromecast (with Google tv) I was looking for this a while ago but finally have the proper configuration to make it really convenient. SmartTubeNext should have the display over other apps permission (settings>apps>special apps access>display over other apps>smarttubenext to on). Then go to turn screen on (settings>apps>special apps access>turn screen on) and also toggle STN to on. Then you can cast from screen off or screen on on any screen and cast works like it would on normal youtube. I also installed ATV STN bridge and uninstalled Youtube, I am not sure if that is necessary or not but if it does not work with the above settings you should do that.
