Audio language selection

Open ghost opened this issue 3 years ago • 12 comments

YouTube added something silly, now video's can have multiple audiotracks, and currently there is no way to switch them on SmartTubeNext.

This wouldn't be an issue but I don't speak any Spanish which it seems to love to default to.

I have also experienced this issue. For example this video defaults to Russian for me.

Had this today on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs1WF2SkjuY

There are two tracks, one english and one audio description. Smart Youtube Next picked the audio description channel and there's no way to switch it.

Try casting it from your phone to it, that should work. Sadly it also means extra steps like connecting from your phone to the SmartTubeNext etc

This is driving me mad for a channel called Monstrum. At some point I figured out how to disable this for the NVidia Shield by either rage-tinkering with audio output settings, or until I lucked out that one of the audio quality settings managed to turn it off.

No such luck on this latest update, however.

This did not work for me - the default was still selected with AD+dubbed in this video and there was no option in the mobile app to change it.

Just ran into this issue. This video:

https://youtu.be/YMDJA4UvXLA

Includes a second audio track with audio descriptions of everything on the screen for people who are blind. It's nice that the Youtuber accommodated blind viewers like this, but it's distracting. And since YouTube doesn't have support for ADA Accessibility options yet, it's stuck like this in STN.
