Too many free trial accounts MACOS - I've already done everything

Open mazoku1999 opened this issue 4 months ago • 17 comments

Does anyone know how to fix this? I added the card, but it still doesn't work.

Too many free trial accounts used on this machine. Please upgrade to pro. We have this limit in place to prevent abuse. Please let us know if you believe this is a mistake.

I'm in the same situation, I reset it several times but it didn't work, so I bought it for a month and tried it.............

the issue appears to affect only mac users. same issue, did anybody find any solution. i have tried so many custom script to prevent the cursor to change the machineid but it keep rewriting the storage.json file with each chat request, which making it impossible to patch.

@yuaotian, please check this issue. its been happening to me for a week...

bro, just use cursor v1.0 - it's first 2. - download spoof-mac with brew (brew install spoof-mac) 3. with go-cursor-help use cursor-free-vip(https://github.com/yeongpin/cursor-free-vip) instead

@femboypig i have exactly tried the step u give, still same issue.

  • download & install the older cursor v1.0
  • installed the spoof-mac
  • use the reset machine id option in cursor-free-vip

but its still showing "too many free accounts" error.

@bijendratondon, try use 8 option in free vip, and see what cursor is really v1.0. it works for me. it doesn't reset your settings

femboypig avatar Aug 11 '25 18:08 femboypig

@bijendratondon , my solution is: cursor v1.0 try first LOGOUT from your account in cursor, after use cursor-free-vip (1, 8 options), after - go-cursor-help, after again - cursor-free-vip, after - join again in your account

The reason why the modification may be invalid on Mac is that the modification is restricted by Mac's security policy. The principle of this script is to modify the source file of Cursor.app. Therefore, you can try to turn off the Full Disk Permission of the terminal.

Hey everyone, I ran into the same "too many free trial accounts" issue and found that resetting or spoofing MAC addresses and other workarounds of this repo only works sometimes and can get really messy.

I built a lightweight Docker container image for running Cursor in a containerized environment, which bypasses the machine-specific free trial limits by isolating the app inside the container. This means you can quickly spin up Cursor without worrying about your device’s MAC or unique IDs triggering trial limits.

It’s not a perfect workaround for everyone, especially if you’re a subscribed user, but it’s been super useful for me and others who rely on the free trial or want a fast, reproducible setup without messing with system-level tweaks.

You can check it out here: https://hub.docker.com/r/recluzegeek/cursor-container

And I wrote about it in detail here (with setup steps): https://blog.recluzegeek.com/posts/containerize-cursor/

@recluzegeek This is cool. How do you bypass inputting bank account information? Yes we can spoof computer systems with our mac address, etc. but there's only so many virtual cards one can use.

norvalbv avatar Sep 04 '25 11:09 norvalbv

@norvalbv Thanks for the kind words. I didn't try to bypass inputting bank account information, and never tried using cursor pro trial which is what you get after going through stripe, as I knew this was not easy to spoof, so here is my workflow:

Once I hit the trial limit on a machine (container), I remove the running container, and before doing that I make sure that there're no unsaved changes, or uncommitted changes locally or on upstream github. Also sometimes, I uses cursor-chat-export for exporting cursor chats. Once that is done, I remove the container and create new container and this is the beauty of this containerization technology, it boots under a minute, and I'm up and running again. Then I may clone the repo from github again, or use shared folder. And if I've exported the cursor chats earlier, I would feed those chats to ChatGPT and ask it to summarize the progress which've been done earlier and give this concise and refined prompt to the first chat of the newly created container so it has the same context as the previous one had.

Enter the reset script in the administrator terminal: Use PowerShell

irm https://aizaozao.com/accelerate.php/https://raw.githubusercontent.com/yuaotian/go-cursor-help/refs/heads/master/scripts/run/cursor_win_id_modifier.ps1 | iex

and chose number 1 and type Y after finished do again and chose number 2 then type (yes) and then type Y start with New account and it will work perfectly .
