Enormous memory footprint after protracted usage

Open doriantaylor opened this issue 7 months ago • 4 comments

Hi, I've noticed picom (10.2-3build2 on Ubuntu 24.04 amd64, x11 running exwm on a 2021 (Intel) Framework 13 laptop) ratchets up about two gigabytes of (resident set) RAM if I keep it running for a while; particularly when running Shotcut. It sheds a couple hundred megs when I kill -USR1 it but the bulk of the memory usage doesn't budge.

Any recommendations for cleanrooming this situation to help track down what's going on here?

Just reporting on the one that ships with Ubuntu LTS, dude.

Are you saying this is fixed?

Are you saying this is fixed?

Most likely.

He is saying that you should try at least the latest released version of the software, with the development version being the most recommended to check if the bug exists.

there's no known resource leaks in picom built from the latest commit in the next branch and A LOT was fixed since v10.2.
