Picom 12 causes delays in operations

Linux acer 6.11.3-artix1-1 https://github.com/yshui/picom/pull/1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri, 11 Oct 2024 03:02:25 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux Openbox 3.6.1-11-1 Acer Travelmate: GPU: Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series Graphics & Display [8086:F31] [i915 driver]

When trying to open new programmes, for example, there is a delay of several seconds before it opens.

Ran Picom with logging set to "trace", the log file is very large so I have uploaded it here

As an example I opened xfce4-terminal at 17:34:00 and it took several seconds to open.

If it is any help, v11.2 works fine for me.

hi, can you try building from the latest stable/12 branch? this problem might have already been fixed there.

Certainly no better, actually seems to be worse, but without more investigation I cannot be certain.

from your logs i can see the terminal is already rendered at about 17:34:01.

do you have a video showing this delay?

This is using next Video

i see... this is very odd, it looks different from any other delay problems we had in the past.

do your cpu usage jump when you open a new window?

do your cpu usage jump when you open a new window?

No, quite the opposite, everything seems to stop according to xfce4-taskmanager
