Brew meld disable
Hi, I don't know if doing an issue is the good place to contact you about this, but the meld install from brew is disabled since a week : https://formulae.brew.sh/cask/meld
Hi @yhru,
~~You can install a new version (v3.22.1) with brew install --cask dehesselle-meld.
The repository for that is at: https://gitlab.com/dehesselle/meld_macos/-/releases~~
EDIT:
meld can now be install like in the past. For those who installed dehesselle-meld version, do this:
brew remove --cask dehesselle-meld
brew install --cask meld

@yousseb Any chance to comment on this issue? The repo seems abandoned.
The author of this repo @yousseb has unfortunately not been able to work on maintaining it over the last couple of years, which is a shame because he had put a lot of work in, but at least he managed to attract a good following of mac folk to love using meld.
In the meantime, people have been collaborating with the upstream GNOME Meld project to try and get a macOS beta build based on the upstream code, and in fact there seem to be regular builds going into the dehesselle-meld cask, like the new v3.22.3. Please bear in mind that if you do use that cask, issues should be reported to the main upstream repo https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/meld/-/issues
Thanks for sharing this. It's a pity, I liked the work of @yousseb.
@mfechtner Do you want to help keep his work alive?
@dehesselle any chance of updating the GNOME Meld docs to mention this? Also any plans for brew mainstream? thanks!
Also any plans for brew mainstream?
It's going to end up there eventually.
edit: needed to rephrase as I personally have no immediate plans

For anyone here after 21st of April 2025, the general meld cask has been switched over to dehesselle-meld. And the dehesselle-meld has been deleted.
So simply run:
brew remove --cask dehesselle-meld
brew install --cask meld
@antoine2711 I would suggest you edit your post with the new information, so that people don't get confused by dehesselle-meld not existing anymore.

Did so. Thanks. I guess this issue can now be closed. @yousseb, when you have the time.
