Installing PerlIO::gzip failed

Open greenkidneybean opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

I'm installing LRSDAY-v1.7.1 on Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS. Running install_dependencies.sh raises the error "! Installing PerlIO::gzip failed.", I've tried passing the --force flag into misc/cpanm but I still get the same error.

Here's the build.log, any input for troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Dear Michael,

Thanks for trying out LRSDAY. Regarding the error message that you encountered, this post (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/36374267/how-to-fix-fatal-error-zlib-h-no-such-file-or-directory) should help. LRSDAY relies on a number of prerequisites (https://github.com/yjx1217/LRSDAY/blob/master/prerequisite.txt), most of which should have been pre-installed for Linux-based servers, but if you are working with a fresh Linux machine, you will need to install these prerequisites first.

BTW: I've just pushed a few new changes as the upcoming v1.7.2 update yesterday, so maybe you can use git clone https://github.com/yjx1217/LRSDAY.git to download and install v1.7.2 instead.

Best, Jia-Xing

Hi Michael (@greenkidneybean) ,

Just to check if the the solution posted above solved your problem. And FYI, a formal release of v1.7.2 is now available at https://github.com/yjx1217/LRSDAY/releases/tag/v1.7.2 .

Hi Jia-Xing,

Thank you for checking-in! Your suggestion worked for all the Perl installations but I then got hung up on solving the Conda environments. I was going to try updating Conda or try Mamba.

Hi Michael,

Yes, conda could be a headache ... :-( Try to mask out the system-level-installed conda (if exists) from your $PATH might help.
