Improvement Request: Decimal Book Numbers

Open thew1se opened this issue 5 years ago • 6 comments

Sometimes authors release books or novella which occur between books. Traditionally, these are numbered as .5

For example: Book 1 Book 1.5 Book 2

Currently the program is restricted to Integers....can this be updated to allow decimals?

For book number system field "track number" is used which is stored in format 3/12, meaning track 3 from 12. I would not be entirely sure how this could impact players...

For me, this would be more for filename convention (unless you can update the track# to something else).

Metadata would be nice but is not imperative. I've started using Seanap Audiobook Guide to do an initial metadata import from audible. Then I update them as I like.

In his guide, track # is usually set to 1 regardless of book #. His method works wonderfully for Plex and ultimately Prologue (Audiobook App for Plex) which is my ultimate goal.

Give me some time to research it. I also use Plex, but found it useless for audiobooks, hopefully it will be better with Prologue.

If you interested just in filename what prevents you to update file name manually when ABC saves the file?

P.S. Thanks for links - i'm very interested.

Prologue is EXCELLENT for audiobooks. The one trick is the folder/file structure and metadata. I'm super happy with it.

File-naming regarding books numbers is just preference and was feedback. Not entirely needed on my part but is a nice to have.

Don’t really have an opinion with the ticket because I rename afterwards in my workflow, but just wanted to second that prologue is awesome. M4b is better supported by plex than mp3 so Audiobookconverter really helped get that going.

Consider to allow using of leading 0 in book numbers.
