I completely agree, re-encoding is a waste of time if what you want is just a part of the video.
This would be quite useful practically but would also introduce inconsistencies as there would be multiple app page layouts, which I find confusing.
For those who wish not to use the Cloudflare mirror (there are plenty), it shouldn't be enforced based on mirror performance.
