Open ChasBelov opened this issue 2 months ago • 4 comments

When I try to install 26.1.0 I get an error that it's the wrong file type.

Steps:

  1. Launch virtualOS
  2. Click Install (+)
  3. Choose Download latest version

Expected and actual result: macOS 26.1.0 downloads

macOS 26.1.0 (Build 25B78) Downloading 19% (2688 of 17851 MB)

  1. When download is done, click Done
  2. Click Install (+)
  3. In Restore Image dialog, select Restorelmage_1.ipsw

Select Restore Image Restorelmage_1.ipsw Restorelmage.ipsw macOS 26.1.0 (Build 25B78)

  1. Click Install

Expected result: macOS 26.1.0 installs Actual result: Get virtualOS error dialog:

Error The restore image is invalid. The restore image is the wrong file type.

Sorry I can't provide actual screenprints. Github is not letting me upload them.

Note: Restorelmage.ipsw is macOS 15.5.0 (Build 24F74) but I don't want to install that one. Eventually, I can't upgrade due to the virtual disk running out of space, even though I allowed 60 GB.

Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention. Here's a preview build of the fix, using TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/vWKNYgmM

Version 2.3.1 is in review and should be available soon, you can also download the binary from GitHub Releases

Thank you. Actually, the TestFlight link is to the 2.2 version. I'll patiently await the post to the App Store.
