Hiding virtualOS app while installing new VM causes installation to fail immediately
When starting the installation of macOS 26.1 beta 1, then hiding the virtualOS app at any point during the installation (with Command-H), its icon immediately starts bouncing in the Dock, and when I activate it again the following error alert is shown:
An error occurred during installation. RestoreOS device removed before restored completed
(Error Code: 10007, Underlying Error Domain: com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore, Underlying Error Code: 9)
When I close the error alert, two new VMs appear in the list:
I'm running macOS 26.0.
Yes, you are right, install is cancelled when the progress view disappears. However, if I don't stop the install at this point, the install is started a lot of time and finally the error "The number of virtual machines exceeds the limit. The maximum supported number of active virtual machines has been reached." is produced.
For now, I propose you keep the app in the foreground until install has finished.
You are also right that failed installs should not show up as if no errors occured, in the VM list. This should be improved in a future version of the app.
Thanks for looking into this. But I don't understand why this happens:
