No longer works after updating payload to hax 2.8

I am on system New 3DS 11.0.0-33U, and have spoken to someone else in #3dshacks that has this same issue on N3DS.

Three days ago I installed oot3dhax and it worked fine using the 2.7 payload. Today I tried to update the payload to 2.8, but now all I get is "An Error Has Occurred" with no glitch screen. The 2.8 payload for Old 3DS 11.2.0-35U works perfectly.

Update: Tested on New 3DS 11.2.0-35U. Works fine. However, it will still not work on my 11.0.0-33U N3DS.

How did you manage to get the new payload with your OLD 3DS on 11.2.0-35U? I'm trying to figure out how I can get from 2.7 to 2.8 right now

I just ran the oot3dhax installer using the latest Starter.zip on my o3ds. It worked both by just overwriting the payload, and deleting the save and installing from scratch.

The installer should download the 2.8 payloads directly.

What entry point did you use to access 2.8 and then run the installer?

Sorry, I used the hbloader launcher, and that's only available for cfw.

Did you do anything special to get this to work on your N3DS 11.2.0-35U? I used the installer to update the save file but I'm getting that error you described. My hax is 2.8
