System becomes unresponsive; need a way to control # of threads used
A great application that is far better than the old perl script NCBI has, but it has one issue I've seen so far - it consumes system resources so greedily that I can't even monitor progress. While it's nice to be able to download all of nt in just a few hours, it would be good if there were a way to control how many threads the process uses so that I can still get in to the system and watch it do it's thing...
Can you check if adding “-j number_of_cpus” works?
Sorry this took me so long to get back to you - I had the motherboard die on my main informatics system and it took me this long to replace it. The short answer is "no" - it still feels sluggish when using half of the available cores. But maybe that just means I start it up at night and let it go....
