Easter eggs: Moddable floating imagery
I still like Xeyes veddy much - still works, but...
Something completely different: Some art of the very early 20th century, "Calaveras" from a well-known mexican painter, just floats over the main menu screen on the "Día de los Muertos" day. My regards to Manny, Meche, Glottis and Co.
Suggestions from back then researched and date logic implemented, but free art is a problem - however with this alternate presentation form it gets much simpler. Just images and attribution - volunteers?
Edit: Fresh 'peek' capture, way to create mentioned in last post
... Mind you, it is boring, you have to wait a lot to see them. Unobtrusive as is intended. 30sec Diwali, 30sec Qingming, then switch to a glimpse of the config, Shift-F9, and manny calaveras ...

Pics please Also this would go in the packed pngs if I'm reading correctly, how much space does it take?
All in all I'm in favor of more inclusivity for easter eggs

True. And those don't pack well - the atlas png grows more than the sum of the individual png's. Pity one can't do atlas'ed multitextures from jpegs. DiaDeLosMuertos would weigh 0.5M and Diwali another half meg. Translates directly to jar size (tested), as the atlas files are included but the originals omitted. We could try to change that later (as in non-atlassed textures from ExtraImages - individual load can do jpegs) - for more code. No wait no alpha channel in jpegs, at least not the formats Gdx understands probably.

What do you mean - this starts more diversity, your original idea. So is this good "inclusivity" or not... 🤔 But that gives me the idea to explain what's up for different cultures. Maybe redirect the '?' button to a new Tutorial about easter eggs when one is in effect?

This box can't run peek, so - no video
... so 'seasonal' decorations just float from offscreen across the main menu, pass somewhere near the center, and disappear offscreen ...
... but passing behind the buttons.
All images - just see the refreshed atlas at https://github.com/yairm210/Unciv/blob/5a30b223c71fa1c780ac9ab21292612d97b265b1/android/assets/EasterEggs.png
Found a few images that -to me- seem like a native might associate with Qingming...
As for size - we could always include the hooks only (last commit prepares that - would only need to revert the "art" parts) and leave the art to audiovisual mods... This would already be moddable, just mod a texture path "EasterEggs/Calavera4", mark permanent av mod, and boom it would be included on día de los muertos...
OK, the longer I think about - let's start with "art" only via Mod, not the other way round. Needs a little revert orgy...
@00-evan I hope you don't mind us copying+regexing your lunar new year table... Feel free to reciprocate.
Mod the images went to: https://github.com/SomeTroglodyte/More-Easter-Egg-Art

Not at all, glad you found it useful!

Old enough, and still works. Edit: Clip in first post.
Remember, to test, download the "More Easter Egg Art" mod, mark as permanent audiovisual, then rerun with -DeasterEgg=Diwali in the JVM options, and loiter a bit on the main menu screen. Or use one of the other HolidayDates in that option, like DiaDeLosMuertos or Qingming.
