Deletion icon/button is unclear

When a note is displayed, 4 buttons/icons are displayed below (left-aligned), as this shows: Screenshot of note and buttons

The first one, which I highlighted with a red rectangle in the screenshot above, is the most useful, allowing to delete the note. Unfortunately, its role is unclear, since there is neither a label nor a tooltip, and the image is unclear. The image depicts a trash can, but it is hard to recognize for several reasons:

  1. Top and left margins are missing.
  2. It is not gray (only black over the light gray background).
  3. The top appears to be detached from the bottom.
  4. The wheel (bottom right) is unusual for trash cans (more associated with outdoors containers).
  5. The icons are small.

I understand that notes try to be unobtrusive and the decision to use small icons without labels, but there are still multiple solutions possible:

  1. Add a left margin
  2. Ensure that a top margin shows (there is currently a bug which causes the bottom line's height to vary widely, depending on the note's height)
  3. Use color icons
  4. Add tooltips to icons/buttons
  5. Use a more usual/standard trash can icon, such as Thunderbird's (which I highlighted with a green rectangle in the above screenshot) or Firefox's (pictured below)

Screenshot of Firefox's trash can icon

This icon appears to have replaced XNote++'s earlier red cross icon between 4.3.32 and 4.3.38. This affects XNote++ 4.3.38 with Thunderbird 128.8 on Microsoft Windows 11.

Thanks to @opto for his help finding this button

it is not a wheel, it is a white x in a black circle ....

and actually, they do have tooltips, (=title attribute), but TB does not display themany longer ...

Oh, I see, sorry… well thanks, but in that case the icon needs to be bigger, or the circle needs to be red to be recognizable. But frankly, I don't think having an "x" on a trash can icon is a good idea. I think the icon should be either a trash can, an "x" or something else like a minus sign.

Ah. Thanks

I did originally not find a trash icon inside TB and will use the one from your screenshot above.

Tooltips: TB did the transfer from xhtml windows to html windows, in there, the tooltip got lost. I will check what windowtype inTB can show the tooltip and how they realise it now (it did work in XNote before). Example: the cog symbol on the addons page has a tooltip. So i need to verify how they insert that icon and add the tooltip.

it has a tooltip but it is not shown (it is added as text attribute to an image).

Just saw that TB uses buttons instead of img and a background image in a css class.I will try that in one of the next versions.
