[Small bug] Deleted gems still show up on bestgems.org
Hello there xmisao,
Look at the following URL please, if you have some time:
https://bestgems.org/gems/diamond_shell
This was my old gem, which was integrated into another gem of mine called "roebe". The old rubygems.org page I deleted a long time ago already.
See here:
https://rubygems.org/gems/diamond_shell
Copy/Paste:
"This gem is not currently hosted on RubyGems.org. Yanked versions of this gem may already exist."
Proposed changed:
I propose that this bug is a bit modified - rather than storing a cache of old gems that are no longer there, perhaps whenever you update the bestgems.org data, your script/code could query whether the project still exists, such as via open-uri checking on the homepage, or some other API call. Then, if the page includes the "This gem is not currently hosted on RubyGems.org", I would propose to also remove it from bestgems.org. That way users are not confused when an old gem is no longer available at all anymore.
Thank you for reading this issue and considering whether this is a useful case to check for!
