Cannot load game with Penumbra installed
As of this morning 7/14/2022 the game will not load past Penumbra. This includes after removing the addon manually, and reinstalling it from within the game. Trying to start the game again fails when loading Penumbra.
Have been running the addon for some time with no issues, so this is definitely something to do with a change to the addon overnight.
Have been running the addon for some time with no issues, so this is definitely something to do with a change to the addon overnight. Why? Dalamud updated twice, XIV updated yesterday, and there was no change to the addon 'overnight', at least not for any reasonable time frame of 'overnight'.
You might want to provide any information whatsoever.
The only addon used in addition to Penumbra is Material UI. So it's easy to trace where the issue is. Steps I tried.
- Ran a game repair. All good
- Deleted the Penumbra folder - Game starts fine
- Install Penumbra from inside game, exit, restart game, drops to desktop loading Penumbra
- Deleted the Penumbra folder - Game starts fine
- Deleted the Material UI folder, installed Penumbra inside game again, exit game, restart game, drops to desktop loading Penumbra
- Got on Penumbra Discord, mods unable to resolve where the issue is coming from after viewing log files and having me try some of the above steps again.
- Installed Material UI from Textools, game starts, runs Material UI fine.
When I posted the original issue, there were code changes listed for Penumbra from 6 hours prior. Which was after I had logged in successfully last night. I made every effort to resolve the issue before posting an actual issue I'm having. XIV, and Dalumud were updated prior to my successfully logging in last night. I'm not trying to throw you under the bus, I'm trying to resolve a problem that only crops up with your addon installed.
Okay. So the material UI thing is super relevant because that's a current general issue. And I'm still pretty sure it's an issue Sevii, not me, has to investigate, because nobody without MUI has problems like that with Penumbra, and I don't intend to use MUI for testing. I'll keep you posted about any development on this if I remember.
