Why is Unfit King mechanic disabled?

Open xirsoi opened this issue 9 years ago • 6 comments

The Unfit Gaelic King triggered modifier has been disabled active = no Anyone know why?

A play test with it enabled to see if something is obviously broken/unfinished. If not, we can do some more thorough internal testing to see if it works well or needs balance. If it's good and flavorful (and works!), we should re-enabled it.

I think it might have been a bad copy/paste from the vanilla one, as it was present since first commit. So probably was never tested ^^

Hmm.. I'll look into this over the weekend and make sure it works correctly and doesn't suck.

So, it works fine, and only kinda sucks. But the problem is that the ability to abdicate is very powerful. This is flavorful, but there also needs to be a reason to not abdicate the moment you have the option. Unfit King is modifier that encourages you to abdicate, we need to think of something that will make you think before pressing that Abdicate button.

Give a strong claim to all members of your council? After all, Nuada didn't abdicate to one of his children, but to a trusted advisor.

Experimental version of the mechanic that gives a weak claim to the 5 most powerful vassals is in develop, locked behind a Game Rule.

I'll keep this open until it's decided if this will be the way it goes.

Strong, non-heritable, claim would be better and more likely to generate conflict. The player would have to plan ahead.
