Feature request: Choosing quality instead of bitrate.

For my use cases, I would always prefer setting a specific quality over setting a target bitrate. The needed average bitrate for the same audible quality can change drastically with a different source. It would also make encoding simpler because you can leave your personal settings regardless of factors like the number of channels. I would be really happy to see this feature one day.

It's a shame there has been no response to this. Every other major codec - AAC, MP3, Vorbis have quality setting for VBR. I too would like a quality setting for VBR. Can someone let us know if this option is at least in the pipeline?
