long time waiting after input: make -j4

hi! My PC has 2 core, so I input: make -j4 I have been waiting for nearly 30 minutes, and it seems that the some commands automatically running on the screen might be the same or repeat occur. Is that normal?

You are building an entire Linux kernel. Time depends on your system.

For me it took about an hour to build on a Haswell i7-4500U. (2 core, 4 threads)
