Use Atheros card externally with adapter

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to use this tool with an external Atheros card connected to the PC by a PCI-to-USB adapter? Or is there another way to use the Atheros card externally? I ask that because I use a HP laptop that whitelists the wifi cards that can be put in the laptop and Atheros cards are not in the whitelist. So I cannot replace the WiFi card of my laptop.

The ath9k driver does not work with USB NICs.
