Using this tool on wifi usb dongles

Open akhila-s-rao opened this issue 6 years ago • 5 comments

Hi, I do not have a laptop or device that has an Atheros wifi NIC. I plan on using Raspberry Pi devices as client by hooking them up with Atheros chipset wifi usb dongles (which in Sweden seem to be very hard to get !). I suppose it will then use the ath9k_htc driver. Will this tool work for this driver ? I plan on running ubuntu on these RPi devices if that is necessary information.

Thank you !

Yes, USB dongles use ath9k_htc driver. But I think most of the USB based Wi-Fi NIC doesn't support CSI calculation. So I didn't modify the ath9k_htc so that USB based WI-Fi NIC cannot work with our tool too.

Check this new page for hardware information http://wands.sg/research/wifi/AtherosCSI/Hardware.html

Hi, I am new to Github and just read the discussion about CSI. Do you know any USB wifi adapter that would expose CSI information ? Thanks

Hi, I've got the same question as @arnaud4321 .... In addition, how to find out if chipset can gather CSI information?

Thank you!

Is it possible that I use USB based Wi-Fi NIC (maybe use ath9k_htc driver) as transmitter and use other device supported Atheros CSI tool as receiver for CSI calculation?
