Saving deletes file content, Android 13

I realize this project is long dormant, but I've been using ted via fdroid it since I was on Android 5.1 where I had no save issues, and I figure this issue can stand here as a caution to other users.

I am on Android 13 now. This seems to be more of an issue with Google trying to lock down and Apple-ify Android than it is a direct problem with Ted, many apps including directory file browsers are no longer able to properly access storage even when given permission and dev-options are turned on. I can't find the autosave file location used by Ted. When I select "new" it asks for a directory location and file name, ambiguous if the location is for creating the new file or saving the currently open file, and it presents a save button. The resulting "saved" new file is empty and the prior working file is completely empty. I have managed to successfully manually save files(Just a simple plain save, not the option when creating a new document), in the android global "Documents" directory, but the whole thing has become very fragile and prone to data loss even when you have previously had a successful manual save. I only use it for non-critical stuff like a shopping list or "note to self...", but still fragile enough I need to find a replacement.
