584108FF - Geometry Wars Evolved²
Tested on https://github.com/xenia-project/xenia/commit/d71c35bbe9cb37e5584ab32b4583f8ff4f4dbbb0
When the game starts all I see is a black screen but I can hear the sounds of the game. After a couple seconds the menu music stops playing. When I use the controller I can navigate the menu and play but the screen remains completely black.

This black screen issue seems to be a problem with new builds of xenia (~1 month old) because many of the games with this "black screen" previously ran fine.
Update:
Game starts with corrupt drawings.

Trial game fully playable but full version will complain about not being able to save.

YES! I will be trying this out tonight. So does the trial version at least save high scores? frame rates and sound is good?
looks like a no.

Played for about a minute. 70-72FPS with 2x resolution and vsync on and shaders cached.
:loud_sound:Audio buzzes. • Audio will play on builds before xenia-project/xenia/pull/1655.
apu-garbage | regression
I can confirm the sound still does not work properly in the latest release 9fa41c27bc185a6b3a75196a811f6c3709506858, (v1.0.2757-master).
Might this be related to [APU] XMA: Fix audio loop handling #1808? The background music plays normally at game launch until the first controller input, whereupon it becomes a continuous buzz. That suggests to me that could be a looped button press sound that's triggering the bug.
Edit: Sound works fine in in latest xenia-canary
The game seems to be running slow on my end. Is this happening to anyone else? Geometry Wars 1 (Retro Evolved) and Geometry Wars 3 ran at full speed. I have not attempted to play the demo version, though. The game can sometimes run at full speed during the intro. Sound runs perfectly, though. (Resulting in two or more minutes of silence after the music stops playing.) This is most likely to be my hardware, which is considered low-end. But what is slowing it? The effects?
Hey folks, latest release v1.0.2775-master still exhibits continuous audio buzz after first controller input. Once buzzing starts no other audio plays. Other than this issue, the game runs perfectly for me.
Using latest canary build the screen is very dark on the steam deck. Otherwise the game runs great and has working sound effects and music. The dark screen is a real pain though. On all other games I've tried the screen is at normal brightness and look fine. I've tried bumping the brightness on my steam deck but that doesn't help.
Using the Master Build, the audio buzzing is still there, much like what adelciotto described.

I am having the same issue. Has anyone figured out how to turn up the brightness?

I decided to test this on my PC as well using the same build of xenia canary (8678bec_canary_experimental) with the same rom of Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2. When the GPU is set to "any", the screen is not dark. When I set the GPU to "vulkan", the screen brightness is extremely dark.
high pitched buzzing audio as reported by others. otherwise flawless experience.
edit: fixed in canary

What version of canary? Are you using GPU any or GPU vulkan? Are you playing on steam deck?

I can confirm that the latest build of canary (At the time of writing 5/1/23 commit 1319ff6 on Windows 10) has no audio buzzing for me. I've only tested with earphones, however. The audio still plays at full speed even when the game is running half speed; some non-looping music ends earlier than the timer itself (leaving about a minute or more of silence). I've also experienced this issue with Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, so I'm assuming it's an issue with my own slow laptop.
Last time I played it I had no issue at all, never played through all of it though
