Same issue. Xbox Series controller. Official Adapter. Xemu settings sees the controller and identifies it correctly. Can't get the controller to actually work in-game, tried many games. Switching to keyboard, keyboard works fine for the same games. Tried unplugging the Xbox wireless adapter and using a USB cable, Xemu sees the controller when plugged in but it still doesn't work in-game.

try replacing the driver for the controller? Device Manager. Goto HID devices, find which one is your controller usually has Xinput in the name, right click, replace driver, Browse, Pick from list, select HID-compliant Game Controller.
if that don't work repeat and select the Xinput driver that windows used by default.
Thank you @BiatuAutMiahn !! I'm not sure if replacing the driver or rebooting my PC resolved the issue. But it's working now. I swapped the Xinput for HID compliant game controller as you suggested, restart the PC. It worked. Then I noticed in Device Manager I now had a couple of splats that weren't there before. So I swapped back to Xinput, tested again, and it still worked. Then I rebooted, tested again with Xinput, verified the splats were gone, tested again with three games, still working!
I think maybe just removing/reinstalling the drivers and rebooting would have resolved it, but regardless you led me to the resolution. Much appreciated.
So strange that all of my other emulators and PC games worked fine before, only Xemu didn't. Anyways, I'm off to play some new old games! Thanks again!
Yep, glad I was able to get you going, hf gl!
