The wave painter is inconsistent with the paper version, and exercise 2.49d is thus unsolvable.

I don't understand the second paragraph; what difference in the pdf version makes it so that the wave painter is unrelated?

Where did INSTALL go?

for the record, I was able to install using the (completely non-obvious) instructions [from this stackoverflow answer](https://stackoverflow.com/a/30511996/2990344).
