Get Heading / Chapter number

Open zabeloliver opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

Hi, i'm using the free version of DocX to automatically read Word-Documents for Requirements Engineering. For this purpose i need to read out the actual chapter / heading number. I'm aware that Word is calculating this when viewing but is there a possibility to some get it / calculated it?

Thanks for helping! Oli BTW: I'm using 1.7.0

Hi, currently no, but what value exactly are you looking for ? You get a specific paragraph and you want to know in which page it is located ? Is it the same as https://github.com/xceedsoftware/DocX/issues/297 ? Thank you.

Hi, thanks for your reply. We are reading Word-Docs and PDFs (converted to Word) automatically into our requirement management system. The resulting requirements have the title of the chapter and its content, but for reference it would be good to have the chapter number and/or the page number. When communicating with the customer it is much easier for him to talk about the chapter number instead of a chapter title.

Ok, thank you for the information, we will try to have a look in returning this data information. But for now it is not possible.
