AVI Files?

Does castnow playback .avi files? When I try to stream an .avi file, castnow seems to start playing the file then stops. castnow works with other file formats I have.

Did you try it with the --tomp4 parameter (requires ffmpeg)?

No. I didn't realize it was needed. Will try that.

Hello there,

Having the same issue. I tried the --tomp4 parameter, but nothing happened. No error, nothing. It just says Scanning... and then stops.

The cast is working flawless with .mkv files for example, but with .avi files it doesn't want...

PS : I do have ffmpeg installed

Any ideas?

@cristianciofu I think your having a different problem. Most likely castnow is not finding your chromecast dongle in the network. This could be a firewall problem. You can also try the --address parameter which skips the MDNS scanning and is used to explicity define the IP address of your chromecast dongle. If that dosn't help open up a separated issue and Dump in the DEBUG output.

@rhpt Did --tomp4 fix it for you? Can I close the issue?

Works perfectly with --tomp4 for me.

@xat you're right

It was something else. The --tomp4 works :+1:

Thanks

Why is an unsupported file not detected and the --tomp4 flag implicit when applicable?

works also for me, with --tomp4 parameter (BEFORE PATH-TO-VIDEO). i think you can close this issue. eg."$~ castnow --tomp4 myvideo.avi"
