Named face Normal direction and angle to assembly planes

Hello,

I would like to start off by saying thanks for sharing so many useful macros for Solidworks, it has saved me countless hours of clicks and pain. I am writing because I am looking for a method to export the angles between a face in a component and a global assembly reference. The aim is to be able to place sensors in an assembly at any orientation and automate the export of the angle of either 3 known orthogonal planes, or 3 axis, to the main assembly planes. When I tried to use the measure tool, it gives an angle but not a rotation from a datum, meaning two faces at 180° return the same result. I am really looking for the quarternion position of the surface normal, or the directional cosines of the surface.

I know this might not be a simple task but if you don't have time to develop it, perhaps you could let me know if you think it is possible?

Thanks again for all the contributions,

Kind regards

Craig
