The cooler runs at high speed

I have problems with the default Ubuntu kernels, so I decided to try the XanMod kernel. I'm completely happy with this kernel, except for one thing: watching videos or doing things that don't put much load on the CPU causes the cooler to run at high speed. This doesn't happen when running on default Ubuntu kernels. I have tried all XanMod kernels (except RT: x64v3, x64v2, x64v1, lts) and they all have this issue. Is this a known behavior and is there any way to fix this?
