Flans mod?

Open Krzyygamin opened this issue 5 years ago • 7 comments

Flan's seems to be updated to 1.12.2, it was in the 1.7.10 pack, are there large compatibility issues with the mod and essential mods in the new pack?

I would say Flan's mod should be kept out. Part of the reason the 1.7.10 pack takes so long to load is Flan's mod due to how horribly optimized it is.

Flan's Mod was decided to be left out in this new pack for stability & performance reasons. 1.12.2 modpacks already take ages to load (x2 the time as 1.7.10) and incredible amounts of RAM (x2 the amount as 1.7.10), so Flan's simply didn't make the cut. The pack still features some classics like ICBM, and remember that you can always add it yourself manually. If you do decide to do so you should grab its latest builds from here.

As I see there's a lot of expectation for Flan's Mod, I agree to reopen this suggestion for future testing. Flan's Mod dev is active, but I still would not want to see the modpack's performance receiving a big hit.

The dev has always been active, getting the dev to actually do whats needed has always been another matter.

I remember that Flans Mod made loading 1.7.2 a pain. Lot's of error messages occured "Can't find blabla..", and each message stayed for a second. Please think about this before implementing Flans Mod.

I think adding flans mod would be a bad idea. The pack already uses alot of resources and takes a while to load. A poorly coded mod like flans would be a big performance hit.
