It seems there are problems with google pixel 3xl, I can only get the app working in AFU state, when its in BFU state it doesnt work.

My android version is Android 12, there are also more issues:

  • It seems I can only set the app the work when my notifications are on, when I use 'dont disturb me' mode it wont work.
  • I cannot use keygoard 2 option for PIN only (dont know why?)
  • Overall on google pixel 3XL it only works when you put the 'show password when writing' option on, and when when you do that BEFORE you open 'wasted' and 'duress' app. Overall I had a really hard time to get it working, and in the end when I got the thing working it didn't work in BFU mode and it didn't work when I used 'dont disturb me' mode.

Thanks for your reply. The wasted app is amazing, however It would be smart to add that wasted and duress do not work when the phone gets rebooted in 'safe mode', an attacker could reboot your phone in 'safe mode' and only after that require you or make you to tell the password. In that case Duress will of course not work because safe mode kills all third party apps. I think this warning is helpful for people to know.

I can not reproduce. Pixel 4a Android 12.

If you use Test mode, then notification will not be show because of DND. After disabling it, you will see a notification.

I cannot use keygoard 2 option for PIN only (dont know why?)

Work for me both for the length and PIN. You have to restart accessibility service if you change Keyguard type.

Thanks, the app works now though only with keyguard 1 and only after I first 'test' it. But it works and I'm happy with it.

Also I have some other suggestion: Could you add an option on wasted app which will trigger an auto delete when SIM card is removed?

Law enforcement work like this:

1: They take your phone by force 2: They put your phone in a faraday bag and charge it with normal charger 3: They remove the SIM card and put your phone in airplane mode 4: They register your IMEI number from the SIM card tray.

In case they manage to put a faraday bag over your phone the remove wipe with SMS (notification option with wasted) will not work, but it would be interesting if there is also an option for auto delete when they remove the SIM card from the device.

Sentry now can disable safe boot mode if you will set it as Device Owner.

Awesome, just checked it out and it works. Do you know if giving an app device owner mode comes with any vulnerabilities that I should know about?

I do not think. It gives Sentry additional permission, like disable USB data signaling or disable safe boot mode.

@Tunga2329 They have requirements.

  • disable USB data connections (Android 12, USB HAL 1.3, Device Owner)
  • disable safe boot mode (Android 7, Device Owner)

It seems x13a has been inactive for a long time, you could use Eradoo app in the meantime. It works in AFU mode but not in BFU mode, if you really want to make it work in BFU mode also you could set the app as device owner with ADB, after that it should work both in bfu and afu.
